The situation
Our client ran a mining and minerals operation where the data that mattered — equipment status, production rates, stoppages, grade — sat in a dozen systems that didn’t talk to each other. SCADA in one place, maintenance logs in another, production numbers stitched together in spreadsheets after the shift. By the time a problem showed up in the morning report, it had already cost a day.
They didn’t need more dashboards bolted on. They needed the data in one place, live.
What we did
We started on the ground, understanding how the operation actually ran before proposing any technology — which shifts felt the pain, where the numbers came from, which stoppages hurt most.
- We built one data platform that pulls equipment, production and maintenance data into a single, trustworthy source — reconciling the inconsistencies between systems that had quietly disagreed for years.
- We gave each level the view it needs: a live operations screen for the pit and plant, and trend views for planning — throughput, downtime by cause, and where the real bottlenecks sat.
- We designed it for the environment, so it stayed useful across patchy connectivity and the realities of a working site.
Because our team includes people who’ve worked in heavy industry, we built for how mining actually operates — not how a generic analytics tool assumes it does.
The outcome
With problems visible as they happened rather than the next morning, the operation cut unplanned downtime by more than a quarter and lifted throughput by 12 per cent against the same equipment. The daily reporting scramble disappeared — the numbers were simply there, live and trusted.
We continue to run and extend the platform as the operation grows.
